The architecture of proof. Systems you own outright.

Axiom is a small engineering practice in New Zealand. We build three things: low-latency trading infrastructure, forensic investigations that hold up in court, and secure web platforms for firms handling sensitive material. You get the source code, the documentation, and the engineer who wrote it.

  • Fixed scope, fixed priceQuoted in writing before any work starts. No hourly drift.

  • You own the IPFull source code and copyright transfer on delivery. No licence, no lock-in.

  • You talk to the engineerNo account managers. The person writing the code answers your email.

What we build

Three practices, one standard.

Most clients arrive with one problem in mind. Start with the practice that matches yours — each section explains what you get and what it costs.

  • Trading infrastructure

For proprietary desks and family offices

Custom execution engines in Rust, Go and Python, plus gas-optimised smart contracts. Built when off-the-shelf bots are too slow, too opaque, or too risky to trust with your capital.

How it works — trading infrastructure
  • Forensic investigation

For litigators, liquidators and recovery teams

We trace assets through New Zealand company, land and insolvency registries, map the relationships, and hand you a written statement of fact your lawyers can file.

How it works — forensic investigation
  • Secure web & data rooms

For law firms and corporate clients

Hand-built sites and access-controlled document portals. For firms whose material can’t sit in a template builder or a shared consumer cloud drive.

Practice 01 · Trading systems

Execution you can read, audit and change.

Rented bots are a black box. You can’t see the routing logic, you can’t audit the risk checks, and if the vendor disappears or raises prices your strategy goes with them. On a fast market, a few hundred milliseconds of someone else’s API queue is the whole edge.

We write the client for you. Memory-safe Rust searchers and hand-written Yul contracts, submitted through private builder endpoints rather than the public mempool — so your intent isn’t broadcast before it lands.

  • Full repository access from day one — not just a compiled binary
  • Deployment runbook and a recorded walkthrough at handover
  • 30 days of support after delivery, included in the quoted price

Practice 02 · Forensic investigation

IronHunter: following the money through NZ registries.

When a director winds up one company and quietly starts another, the trail is public — it’s just spread across the Companies Office, LINZ title records and the Gazette, in volumes no one can read by hand. We ingest all three, match the entities, and show you the shape of it.

What we search

Directors, shareholders, nominees
LINZ land records
Title history and ownership changes
NZ Gazette archives
Liquidation and insolvency notices

Statement of fact

A written, sourced report your lawyers can put in front of a court.

We work from public registries and material you are lawfully entitled to hold. We don’t do surveillance, pretexting, or anything that would make the evidence inadmissible.

Practice 03 · Web & data rooms

Sites and portals for material that matters.

If your business handles client files, deal documents or evidence, a drag-and-drop site builder is the wrong tool. You inherit their trackers, their plugins and their breach history.

We hand-build the front end, deploy it to an edge network, and lock it down with a strict content security policy and real access control. Fast pages, clean audits, and no third-party scripts watching your visitors.

  • Per-user document access with a full download audit trail
  • WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility built in, not bolted on afterwards
  • No analytics or advertising scripts unless you ask for them
Discuss a build

Typical build

A marketing site, a client login, and a document area with expiring links and per-file permissions. Deployed to your own domain and hosting account, so you keep control of it.

  • Edge deployment, sub-second first paint
  • Strict CSP, hardened headers, no inline third parties
  • Source code handed over on completion
How we work

Four steps. No surprises.

You will know the price, the scope and the delivery date before you commit to anything. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll say so on the first call.

  1. Scoping call

Twenty minutes, free, no obligation. You describe the problem; we tell you whether it’s something we should build, and roughly what it costs.

  2. Written proposal

Fixed scope, fixed price, a delivery date and what’s explicitly out of scope. Usually within two working days of the call.

  3. Build

Repository access from the first commit and a written update every week. You can see progress whenever you want, not just at the end.

  4. Handover

Source code, documentation, a deployment runbook and a live walkthrough. Then 30 days of support, included.

Selected work

What previous engagements looked like.

Client names, entity names and identifying details are withheld under NDA. The figures below are the outcomes reported to us by the instructing party.

  • Proprietary trading desk

    Custom arbitrage engine

    99.2% capture efficiency

The desk was routing through a third-party API and losing roughly 12% of monthly alpha to queue latency. We replaced it with a bespoke Rust execution engine running against their own nodes, closing the gap between signal and submission.

  • Asset recovery taskforce

    Phoenix company investigation

    $84.5M frozen

A director wound up several liability-heavy companies and restarted under new names, moving capital into residential property through trustee structures and using a law firm’s address as the registered office. By matching insolvency notices against historical ownership records — including a deliberate split of assets between spouses — we reconstructed the chain across five layers and produced a filed evidence pack.

  • Recovery consortium

    Continuous registry monitoring

    $240M+ network mapped

We built a monitoring service that reads government registries on a schedule and correlates liquidation notices against newly incorporated companies. Cross-referencing shared service addresses and director changes surfaced a connected network and flagged the assets for freezing orders.

Who you’re hiring

A small practice, on purpose.

Axiom is an independent engineering and investigation practice based in New Zealand. The work comes out of real forensic casework and real trading infrastructure, and it’s done by the people who write the code — there is no delivery team to hand you off to.

That sets a natural limit on how much we take on. We run a small number of engagements at a time and turn down work that isn’t a good fit, which is why the first call is a genuine conversation rather than a sales pitch.

Whether you’re tracing capital through layered company records or executing against a moving market, the advantage comes from owning the tooling rather than renting it.

Questions

The things people ask before they email.

Do I actually own the code?

Yes, on the one-off builds. On delivery you get the full repository and a written assignment of copyright. There is no licence key, no phone-home, and nothing that stops you hiring another engineer to change it later.

The monthly lease tiers are different — there you’re paying for access to infrastructure we run and maintain, and the code stays with us. The pricing tabs above make it clear which is which.

Can you guarantee trading returns?

No, and anyone who does is lying to you. We build and hand over execution infrastructure. What it earns depends on your strategy, your capital, your venues and market conditions, none of which we control.

Axiom is not a licensed financial adviser, does not manage third-party capital, and does not give investment advice. The telemetry panel on this page is a user-interface mock-up running on random numbers, not a performance record.

Is the forensic work legal?

Yes. We work from public registries — the Companies Office, LINZ title records, the NZ Gazette — and from documents you are lawfully entitled to hold. We don’t do surveillance, we don’t use pretexting to obtain information, and we don’t access anything that would render the resulting evidence inadmissible.

Findings are delivered as a sourced statement of fact so your lawyers can put them in front of a court.

How long does a project take?

A forensic asset map is usually 5 to 10 working days. A website is 2 to 4 weeks. Trading infrastructure ranges from 3 weeks for a foundation build to several months for a full stack. Your written proposal names a specific date, not a range.

Will you sign an NDA?

Yes, before the scoping call if you’d prefer. Send yours over, or ask and we’ll send a mutual one. Client names and case details never appear on this site or anywhere else.

I’m not sure what I need. Is that a problem?

No — that’s most first calls. Describe the problem in plain terms and we’ll tell you what would solve it, roughly what it costs, and whether it’s worth doing at all. If it isn’t something we should build, we’ll say so and point you somewhere better.

How do payments work?

One-off builds are split 50% to start and 50% on delivery. Monthly tiers are invoiced in advance and can be cancelled with 30 days’ notice. Everything is quoted in writing before any work begins.
